Khalid Al-Kofahi is vice president of Research & Development at Thomson Reuters, where he leads corporate R&D as well as the Center for AI and Cognitive Computing. Khalid is a technology executive, a scientist and an engineer who is passionate about transforming abstract ideas into differentiating and impactful products. At Thomson Reuters, he is responsible for helping the business identify and realize product opportunities that could be enabled by AI and machine learning, focusing on how professionals find information, how the interact with information-based systems and how they make decisions. During his 20+ years tenure at Thomson Reuters Khalid led the design and development of numerous products and technologies including vertical search, question answering, recommender systems, web-scale concordance solutions, large scale classification, text and data analytics, anomaly detection and risk mining.
Khalid research interests include natural language processing, information retrieval, question answering, machine learning, recommender systems and computer vision. Khalid has a Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA, M.S. from Rochester Institute of Technology, USA, both in Computer Engineering and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan.
