Ellis joined the Digital Finance Institute (DFI) in 2014 and was recently appointed as the Executive Director of the DFI. In this capacity, she heads the DFI’s Artificial Intelligence division and research team, her responsibilities also span many of the institute’s key initiatives — from building partnerships, conducting outreach and managing international affairs.
Ellis has fully immersed herself in the tech world. In 2017, Ellis joined a digital currency exchange as the Head of their Toronto Financial Intelligence Unit and was responsible for AML investigations and on-boarding compliance. In the summer of 2018 she left the exchange to launch Canada’s Financial Crime Center which has a special focus on tracing illicit activities on the blockchain.
Speaking at events and conferences on the topics of AI, Blockchain, FinTech, Financial Crime, Digital Currencies and Regulation has become an outlet for sharing her knowledge and passion.
